DHL Deploys Shipping Centers with Walgreens

Walgreens, the largest drugstore in the United States, will soon deploy DHL shipping kiosks in its US retail stores.   The deal between DHL and Walgreens greatly increases DHL's retail footprint in the US while offering Walgreens customers added convenience.  Walgreens intends to expand its store footprint to 6500 by the end 2008.

Many Walgreens drug stores are open 24 hours a day. This allows customers who wish to drop off packages for shipment the ability to ship any time they want to.   

The size and breadth of the Walgreens store network immediately gives DHL Express a strong presence for small to medium sized business customers as well as walk up consumer retail traffic.

The new agreement is designed to readily service shippers sending and dropping off their packages via DHL for overnight, ground or international delivery. The DHL Shipping Spot will be staffed by Walgreen's associates at Walgreen's photo counters to weigh, label and ship customer packages to U.S. or international destinations, creating a simple and easy shipping experience. I went to Walgreens's and asked about making an international shipment. The staff there did not have a clue. In fact the first person I spoke with stated Walgreen's did not support International shipping. International shipping IS NOT easy.
